MCAT Scholarship

    1. At XUSOM we understand that not everyone is a natural “test taker”. That is why we are happy to offer a Scholarship to any applicant that has taken the MCAT regardless of their score.
    2. Award Amount: $15,000-$30,000
      1. $2,500-$5,000 for each Basic Science semester (MD1-MD6)
    3. Eligibility Requirements:
      1. MCAT submitted
      2. First Year students

Presidential Excellence Scholarship

    1. This scholarship is awarded to a select group of qualified students in each incoming class. Students will automatically be considered for this scholarship when applying.
    2. Award Amount: $71,000
      1. Scholarship will be dispersed 6,000 per semester for MD1-6 and 7,000 per semester for clinical semesters 1-5.
    3. Eligibility Requirements
      1. Earned Bachelor’s Degree**
        1. ** Students who complete their Premed courses at XUSOM are eligible
      2. MCAT score of 504
  • A minimum overall undergraduate GPA of 3.5 from an United States or Canadian University
  1. Accepted by the Admissions Committee into MD1
  2. This scholarship is awarded to a select group of qualified students in each incoming class. The scholarship is delivered over 4 years with a reduction in tuition per semester. Students must maintain a cumulative 3.5 GPA during each semester of MD Program to maintain scholarship

    1. Must have continuous enrollment
    2. Must maintain satisfactory academic progression at the discretion of chief academic officer
    3. No disciplinary action of any sorts while a student of XUSOM.
    4. Must stay on campus housing
    5. Scholarship offers are only valid for the semester of their acceptance.

 

Chancellor Scholarship

    1. This scholarship is awarded to a select group of qualified students in each incoming class. Students will automatically be considered for this scholarship when applying.
    2. Award Amount: 53,250
      1. Scholarship will be disbursed $4,500 basic science semester 1-6 and $5,150 for 5 clinical semesters
    3. Eligibility Requirement
      1. MCAT score of 500 and above
      2. Pre-requisite and undergraduate GPA of 3.25 and above
  • Hold an undergraduate degree (equivalent to U.S bachelor’s degree)
  1. Scholarship terms
    1. Must have continuous enrollment
    2. Maintain a 3.25 GPA.
  • Must maintain satisfactory academic progression at the discretion of chief academic officer
  1. No disciplinary actions of any sorts while a student of XUSOM.
  2. Must stay on campus housing

Deans Scholarship

    1. This scholarship is awarded to a select group of qualified students in each incoming class. Students will automatically be considered for this scholarship when applying.
    2. Award Amount: 35,500
      1. MD1-MD6 3,000 per semester, Clinical Semesters 1- 5 $3,500 per semester.
    3. Eligibility Requirements:
      1. Pre-Requisite and undergraduate GPA of 3.00 and above
      2. Scholarship disbursement Semesters
    4. Scholarship Terms:
      1. Must Have Continuous enrollment
      2. Must maintain a 3.0 cumulative GPA
  • Must Maintain Satisfactory academic progression at the discretion of the Chief Academic Officer
  1. Must reside in on campus housing

Women In STEM Grant

    1. XUSOM is a proud support supporter of increasing gender inclusivity in the medical field. With this scholarship we hope to help lessen the gap between males and females working in the STEM field.
    2. Award Amount: $44,000
      1. Awarded $4,000 for basic science semesters 1-6 and $4,000 for CS 1- 5
    3. Eligibility Requirements:
      1. Any woman who has majored in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics will qualify for this scholarship.
      2. Provide a video (no more than 4 minutes) describing what makes you passionate in joining the STEM field as women.

John Lewis Equality Memorial Scholarship

    1. Late congressman John Lewis stood to fight inequities in all aspects of his life. This scholarship is offered to students that come from an under-represented minority groups.
    2. Award Amount: $60,000
      1. $5,000 per semester for MD1-MD6, $6,000 per semester for CS 1-5
    3. Eligibility
      1. This scholarship is open to incoming first- semester students only.
      2. Proof of United States Citizenship or permanent resident status
  • Must be classified as an under-represented minority (African-American, Native American, or Hispanic-American).
  1. Upload a Video in which you describe how you plan on helping increase the number of under-represented minorities in medicine either in the near future or once you are in a position of power. Alternatively, you can speak upon how you will attempt to further John Lewis legacy of fighting inequalities in your professional and personal life. Please keep responses limited to 4 Minutes please.

NY State University Scholarship (SUNY/CUNY/ Community College)

    1. At Xavier we are committed to our students having a comprehensive global experience as patients come from all parts of the world with all sorts of background. As we celebrate our NY state accreditation, we would like to offer all residents of New York State who matriculated from a NY state University or College ( CUNY, SUNY, Community College)
    2. Award Amount: $22,000
      1. Disbursed $2,500 semesters 1-6 , $1,400 Semesters 7-11)
    3. Eligibility:
      1. New York residents who have studied at State University School within New York State. ( SUNY/ CUNY/ Community college)
      2. Students who have graduated from a New York High School and are applying to XUSOM Pre-med program.

Citizen Responsibility / Civic Duty / Civic Responsibility

    1. XUSOM is committed to its graduates giving back to the community in all ways that they can. This $33,000 scholarship is awarded to students who have shown unparallel commitment as they put community service in their community, hospital, nursing home or charities
    2. Award Amount: $33,000
      1. $3,000 disbursed each semester
    3. Eligibility:
      1. Incoming first-semester students and transfer students are eligible for this scholarship.
      2. Personal essay, no more than 750 words, describing in ways that you has given back to your community. This is your opportunity to showcase all of the positive you have done for your community
    4. Scholarship Terms:
      1. 3,000 a semester split evenly throughout 11 semesters,

Covid-19 Relief Grant

      1. During this Unprecedented pandemic, here at Xavier we understand that people’s lives have been changed dramatically. We are pleased to offer a Covid-19 relief grant allowing eligible participants to receive up to 22,000 off tuition during their studies at XUSOM.
      2. Award Amount: 22,000
      3. Eligibility:
        1. Documented proof of the death of Sibling, Parent, Step-parent, Step-sibling or Documented Proof or financial hardship.
        2. Must continuously be enrolled at XUSOM.

Medical Field

      1. Here at XUSOM we understand that career plans and paths change. We would like to provide an opportunity to people already working in the medical field to take the next step and start medical school.
      2. Award Amount: 44,000
      3. Eligibility:
        1. This scholarship is open to all people who are working in the medical field in a hands-on setting such as, but not limited to, nurse’s, physician assistants, Emergency Medicine Technichian, etc.

Ongoing Scholarships – Academic

Xavier offers ongoing scholarships based on academic merit for students in our Pre-Med, and Basic Science. The awarded amount will be determined by the previous semester’s GPA. In order to be eligible for these scholarships, the student must meet one of the following criteria:

Clinical Science Scholarship

The United States Medical Licensure Examination (USMLE) is a mandatory test that allows you to practice medicine in the United States. It assesses a doctor’s ability to apply important medical knowledge while maintaining safe and effective patient care. We understand the importance of the USMLE Step 1 exam, and wish to reward those who excel at this critical step in their medical careers.
Students are eligible for an ongoing scholarship based on their first attempt of the USMLE Step 1. This scholarship will be applied to each required clinical science semester. Each clinical semester runs for 12 weeks. To receive the scholarship, the student must meet one of the following criteria:
