The Shaping Xavier Scholarship

Part of Xavier University School of Medicine’s mission is to make  medical education affordable.

We are excited to announce the Shaping Xavier Scholarship that will cover a student’s full tuition for the entire medical education!

Total Scholarship Value: $199,600

Scholarship Criteria

  1. Student must be a US or Canadian citizen.
  2. Students must have been accepted to Xavier University School of Medicine for the January 2024, May 2024, or September 2024 semester.
  3. Students must be entering Xavier University School of Medicine in MD-1.
  4. Students must have an undergraduate GPA of 3.25 or higher.
  5. Students must have an MCAT score of 490 or higher. (MCAT must have been taken within the past 18 months)
  6. Students must submit a personal essay (no more than 600 words) about why they want to attend Xavier University School of Medicine and why they should receive this prestigious full tuition scholarship.
  7. Students will have a meeting with the Scholarship Committee.

If students do not meet all of the criteria, or are not selected as one of the scholarship recipients, they will automatically be considered for many of the other scholarships that XUSOM offers.

Academic Success

New Academic Campus

A brand new state of the art academic campus is set to open during Fall 2024.

To maintain the Shaping Xavier scholarship:

  • Students must not fail any courses and must maintain a GPA of 3.25 or higher in basic science.
  • Students must pass USMLE Step 1 on their first attempt and maintain a GPA of 3.5 GPA or higher in clinical science.
  • Students must not receive any disciplinary actions while a student of XUSOM.
  • Students must have continuous enrollment. There should be no interruptions or discontinuation in studies.
  • Student must reside at on-campus housing during their basic science semesters

Scholarships may be rescinded if terms are not met, and the student will be responsible for full tuition. Awards are disbursed in the Student Management System as a credit toward your tuition. Scholarship offers are at the discretion of the Scholarship Committee, and the committee reserves the right to approve or deny a student for any reason.
