Xavier University and Aruba Government Launch New Courses and Community Awareness Program To Support Elderly Population In Aruba

Xavier University Aruba has entered into an exciting partnership with the Aruba Ministry of Elderly Affairs, initiating an important program to address the unique needs of the elderly population in Aruba. The collaborative efforts were solidified through the signing of a memorandum of understanding on January 22, 2024, in a meeting between Xavier University President Mr. Ravi Bhooplapur and Minister Ursell Arends, Aruba’s Minister of Transport, Integrity, Nature, and Elderly Affairs.

This strategic alliance represents a significant milestone in the ongoing commitment of Xavier University and the Aruba government towards enhancing the well-being and overall quality of life for senior citizens in the region. The shared vision includes fostering intergenerational understanding and creating an environment that promotes the thriving of the elderly community.

“We are very excited to sign an agreement with the Aruba government to support the elderly population in Aruba,” said Xavier University Aruba President Mr. Ravi Bhooplapur. “Through our efforts, we will create new courses and awareness programs to support our aging population. I thank Minister Ursell Arends for his partnership and look forward to working with him and his team on this and many new initiatives in the future.”

One of the key components of this partnership involves Xavier University’s dedication to developing and providing specialized courses and training programs tailored to the unique needs of the elderly population. These courses will encompass various essential aspects, such as healthcare, mental well-being, financial planning, and technology literacy. The goal is to empower individuals with the knowledge and skills necessary to lead fulfilling lives and actively engage in society.
A comprehensive community awareness program will also be launched to raise public awareness regarding the challenges faced by the elderly and advocate for inclusivity and respect within our communities. Through a series of campaigns, workshops, and interactive events, the initiative seeks to cultivate understanding, empathy, and support for the elderly population.

The partnership marks the beginning of an exciting journey for Xavier University, the Ministry of Elderly Affairs, and the population of Aruba. Both organizations are committed to working collaboratively to building a stronger, more inclusive community that values and uplifts its senior members.
