Xavier University Supports Aruba Youth Soccer Community
On Wednesday, April 3, Xavier University Aruba President Ravi Bhooplapur presented San Luis Deportivo youth soccer club representatives, players, and their families with new game jerseys sponsored by the university. This initiative underscores Xavier’s commitment to promoting youth activity and fostering a sense of community within Aruba.
The new game jerseys were presented by President Bhooplaur and Vice President Dan Moses to San Luis Deportivo President Jessmira (Jessy) van der Linde, Secretary Zethsia Lacle, Treasurer Aryati Millerson, Commissioner Julian Patino, and Commissioner Roque (Ito) Maduro.
The jersey presentation was followed by inter-club games, and Xavier provided the players and their families with dinner. In addition, a special recognition was made for Sharin van der Linde for her contribution to the club.
Xavier University Aruba is also thrilled to announce they will be hosting the Xavier King’s Day Cup, a vibrant youth soccer tournament set to take place on April 27th, 2024. The event will be held at Xavier’s residential campus in Hato, Aruba.

We hope to provide a great experience for the players and their families as well as to empower the young people of Aruba and contribute to their growth.”
San Luis Deportivo President Jessmira (Jessy) van der Linde expressed her gratitude and excitement, stating, “Thank you to Xavier University Aruba and President Ravi Bjooplapur for supporting San Luis Deportivo by donating new game jerseys for our players. In addition, the Xavier King’s Day Cup is a wonderful opportunity for young athletes to showcase their skills and passion for soccer. We are proud to be a part of this event and look forward to a day filled with thrilling matches and memorable experiences.”
The Xavier King’s Day Cup will kick off with an exhilarating opening ceremony commencing at 8:00 am. A total of 16 teams will compete throughout the day, with games starting from 8:30 am. The tournament will culminate with the U-7 championship game at 2 pm, followed by the U-9 final at 7:00 pm.
As part of the festivities, Xavier University Aruba will host a family fun day on campus, providing entertainment, swimming, and delectable food and beverages for players and their families. This event promises to be a joyous celebration of King’s Day in Aruba, bringing together the community in a spirit of camaraderie and sportsmanship.
