State Medical Licensure
One goal of a medical education is to obtain licensure in the state of your choice. Each state has a Medical Licensing Board which establishes the criteria for licensure in that state. These boards are independent of ECFMG and USMLE although all state boards require an ECFMG Certificate and successful passage of Step I and Step II CS & CK along with other specific requirements.
Since these boards have the ability to make significant changes annually, it is the responsibility of each student/graduate to directly contact the state board(s) where you are seeking licensure to confirm the specific criteria needed for licensure.
