Coronavirus COVID-19 Update

     Message from President Ravishankar Bhooplapur

Dear Students and Faculty,

During these difficult times, I want to take a moment to update you on our ongoing efforts to combat the spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19). The health and safety of Xavier University Aruba staff and students is paramount. Therefore, in close coordination with all leadership and our program directors in US health systems, we are taking action to reduce the density of exposure on our campus in order to blunt the transmission of this virus.

As you know, Xavier University Aruba & Turkey will be moving as many academic programs as possible to distance learning via our online platforms such as videoconferencing and teleconferencing. We believe that these remote instruction modalities are necessary at this time to reduce the spread of COVID-19.

Our Xavier COVID-19 Task Force has been working around the clock with campus leaders and the Aruban government partners to prepare for and respond to the growing pandemic. While the large majority of our campus has not reported confirmed cases of the virus, we are acting out of an abundance of caution to both protect our Xavier community and the community at large. I would like to thank all the faculty and students support staff for helping make this task force.

In a system with such diverse students from across the world, we understand that one size will not fit all. We will work to find solutions – on a case-by-case basis, if necessary – to ensure that every student can continue their education and complete their coursework to the extent possible.

I understand this situation is causing tremendous anxiety among students and their families, as well as our faculty and staff. In order to maintain our calm and to reduce tensions that has arisen as a result of this outbreak, we will continue to keep our lines of communication open and to provide accurate information in a responsible manner. We are committed to keeping you as up to date as possible. I am confident during this trying times we will do our best to ensure the sense of normalcy can be achieved.

I thank you for your cooperation and willingness to follow the advice provided by public health experts, Ministry of Health at Aruba  & all hospitals in US along with program directors  who are working to keep COVID-19 from spreading. Rest assured that Xavier  and our campus leaders will continue to monitor this situation, keep you apprised of changes and developments as they occur and answer any questions and concerns you may have.
