Civic Duty Scholarship
A scholarship for students who have given back to their community
Part of Xavier University School of Medicine’s mission is to make medical education affordable.
Total Scholarship Value: up to $36,000
Civic Duty Scholarship Criteria
- Student must be entering Xavier University school of medicine in the first year of basic science (MD1-MD3).
- Student must have hands-on experience serving their community (including, but not limited to; Hospitals, Nursing Homes, Charities, etc.)
- Student must be a United States or Canadian citizen.
Please note: All prospective students must be accepted prior to applying for a Scholarship.

A brand new all-inclusive residential campus was opened in Fall 2021.
New Academic Campus
A brand new state of the art academic campus is set to open during Fall 2024.
To maintain the Civic Duty scholarship:
- Student must have continuous enrollment. There should be no interruptions or discontinuation in studies.
- Student must reside at Xavier’s residential campus during basic science semesters.
- Student must not receive any disciplinary actions while a student of Xavier.
- Student must maintain satisfactory academic progression at the discretion of Chief Academic Officer.
Scholarships may be rescinded if terms are not met, and the student will be responsible for full tuition. Awards are disbursed in the Student Management System as a credit toward your tuition. Scholarship offers are at the discretion of the Scholarship Committee, and the committee reserves the right to approve or deny a student for any reason.
